A healthy lifestyle is not something that can happen overnight. Of course, the choice to enter the amazingly rewarding lifestyle can happen overnight, but the journey is one that lasts forever. It’s a journey where sometimes you want to crumble and others you are ready to conquer the world. It’s a journey full of surprises, new challenges, and amazing rewards.
So what exactly is this journey though? Where is the signup sheet? Well, the signup sheet is in your mind; chance your mind and your will change your body. You have to wantto get on this journey in order to succeed in it. If you want someone else to push you to get on the journey, it’s not going to be as rewarding as it could because there are going to be days where you will need to motivate yourself, and what are you going to do if that other person is not there to motivate you? Are you going to fall back into your old habits? Most probably. Again, make the decision yourself.
Once you get on your journey, start making small changes here and there to promote overall health. Start cooking your meals instead of going out to your local grocery store and buying the chemical storm package. Just this alone will lower the number of calories you digest every day, which is also part of the healthy/clean eating journey. I know we don’t all have time to cook a roast every other day, but you can cook small things left and right and make it a family thing.
Make your kids join in by letting them create their own lunches for the week, or have your spouse get off the couch and help you around the kitchen. I’m not pointing my finger at anybody here, it can be either spouse! Most of all, make sure you get into this lifestyle with the long term mindset. Go to the gym with your friends, scout for cute boys and girls. Ask help from that cute trainer, who knows, you might end up meeting your future love. All things serious though, exercise is a very important part of this journey.
All you need is thirty minutes a day to make a difference in your body; you will feel your body getting fresher and leaner, which is the most beautiful reward you can ever get. Keep in mind though that during this journey, you will have days where you will eat cake, pizza, or that extra amount of ice cream, but you will also have months where you will not touch these things. The important thing is to focus on those good days where you feel flushed, amazing, and lean. One bad meal will not stop your progress short, just like one good meal will not push your progress to a whole new level. Although it may feel that way sometimes, remember to take it one step at a time; it’s a lifestyle change, so it’s not going to happen overnight!
