When it comes to health, sitting in front of a TV eating is not really the best practice. Still, since we all just love to do that from time to time, we should learn what kind of food is better than the rest. The list we will give you contains very diverse kinds of snacks, so you will probably be able find something you like. The idea is to use low-calories food that has lots of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. And of course, it has to taste good. Just don’t forget one thing – as any other food, the food we will present is not good for you if you take too much of it. Moderation is always the key.
Well, this is definitely a stereotype: movies and popcorn. However, the popcorn you buy when you go to see a movie is not a good
choice at all, since it has the amount of oil and salt that would make any food bad for you. Air-popped popcorn is much better option. In case you do not have an air-popper, you can use the brands that are prepared in a microwave, but do not use too much oil/butter or salt. You can spice-up your popcorn by adding some chili powder, garlic salt, oregano, or anything else you like – most of it is probably much better for you than salt and butter. Popcorn is good for you mostly because it has plenty of fiber.
The choice is endless; still, the number-one option is definitely pistachios. They are tasty, rich in protein, fiber, good fats, and antioxidants. Another great thing, they take time and effort to open, so there is definitely much lower risk of stuffing yourself with them too quickly.
There is no much to say about this. Almost any fruit is good for you – they are rich in vitamins and fiber, among other things. Thus, whatever fruit you choose, you can hardly go wrong. Just have in mind that many fruits can give you too much calories if you eat too much, just as any other food can. This especially applies to energy-rich fruits, such as bananas. Some of good choices are pineapples, apples, peers, red grapes, peaches, and so on.
Naturally, you need raw vegetables. Not everyone is a fan of raw asparagus, celery, or carrots; but, if you like this sort of food, you are a very lucky (and probably very healthy) person. With raw vegetables, watching TV can actually be good for you.
You can buy them, or you can make your own. There are many variations, such as tortilla chips, pita chips, and so on. What is important to have in mind – avoid high-calories chips and do not use too much salt. Just as with popcorn, use low-fat variations and add spices that are healthier alternatives than salt.
If you do not like anything listed above, then protein bars might be a solution for you. They are obviously not as good as raw vegetables, but they definitely beat chocolate. As you can guess by the name, they have plenty of protein. They also have relatively low amount of calories, which is another good thing.
